Amish Are Slow, Slowing Down The Pace Of Life
// February 15th, 2012 // Rants
“Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans” – John Lennon
Traffic, work, do this, do that is what our life is surrounded with, we rush everywhere, there is never enough time. This includes me just as well. I just happened to notice it and thought I’d talk about it a bit. I rush and stress out just as much as the next guy but I’ve been thinking about it and trying to slow the pace of life down to enjoy it.
My main problem is work, I stress out about it way more than I should. There is never enough time in a day to get it all done. We use technology to help us turn the time back but as you use it more and more, you become dependent on it and then you also get caught in a never-ending race for more. Every time a new gadget comes out, we have to have it, “Because it will slow down time even more!”, we tell our selves. Continue Reading
Trusting God With Everything
// February 10th, 2012 // Christian Life, Rants
Trusting God sounds like something that is an easy thing to do but in reality it is something that needs practice, a step-by-step process that teaches you to resort to God for every single thing.
You can’t trust God with this thing but not that… In our lifes there are things that we have a hard time giving up control of, and those are the things that we need to give up the most. They are what we worry about and cherish. What makes us think that we will be able to preserver them better than if we give them up to our loving, most powerful, God? Continue Reading
Walkthrough on buying a domain at GoDaddy
// February 17th, 2011 // Other
I realize that it might be obvious and easy for some to go and buy a domain but for others it’s a brand new thing so I wanted to go through that process step by step so it’s real clear for everyone. This article will get nice and long but you should be able to breeze right through it. The nice thing is that you’ll be able to come back and refer to the steps as you go and get your own domain. In this tutorial I will assume that you are brand new to GoDaddy and do not have an account with them. We will go through setting that up as we buy a domain. Continue Reading
Setting up web hosting for your new website
// February 15th, 2011 // Other
From all the ads we see all over the place there are quiet a few options for web hosting out there. They all claim to be the best of the best but what really makes a web hosting service great? Is it the up-time? Is it how much money they’ve spent on advertising? Is it the price of the service? All of these things need to be considered, but after years and years of trying different services I’ve found two that stand out from all the noise, GoDaddy and DreamHost. Now I am not saying that there are not better hosting solutions out there for other applications, what I am saying here is that for a beginner website, or let me rephrase it, if you are not going to be running an all-out ecommerce or a social site that will be buzzing with millions of users at the same time, these two services will be perfect for what you are doing. Getting a good domain for your new business website
// February 13th, 2011 // Other
The difference between people getting you your new website and it just sitting there like a small abandoned town in the middle of nowhere with tumbleweeds rolling across it’s main street. Visitors come from three main sources, the search engines, other websites or directly from people typing in the domain name. Two of these sources benefit greatly from an appropriate, or a “good”, domain name, they are the search engines and the direct visits.
While any sort of a domain will work for a link that someone added to their website linking to yours, search engines rely on the keywords in the domain in addition to other formulas and factors that they use to rank and index a website. Even the extension of .COM presides over the .NET and .ORG, followed by the rest behind these. There is also the special .GOV and .EDU extensions that are accessible only by a government or an educational entities respectively. Just anyone can’t just go and purchase one of these unless they can prove that they belong to one of those groups. Continue Reading

Why Does My Business Need A Website?
// February 12th, 2011 // Other
Surprizingly, many business owners still ask this question not realizing how much business and benefits they are leaving on the table for their competitors to scoop right up. Having a website not only brings in extra sales but also establishes the brand, which in this social dominated society makes an enormous impact for a small business.
Some do not plan or want to sell products online, which is fine but the company information should still be available online incase a potential customer wants to look you up and find out about the company or even find a local address or phone number. This also helps when a potential employee wants to look up the company before they decide if they want to apply.
There are many benefits from having a website and the cost of deploying and maintaining a simple one can be so low that it is not even significant to consider. Especially with me helping you every step of the way, there should not be a reason to not have a website.
A snipit from and article on Entrepreneur.com sums it up:
“Let me clarify one point: I’m not saying you should put all your efforts into selling your wares over the internet, though if your product lends itself to easy online sales, you should certainly be considering it. The point to be made here is that you should at the very least have a presence on the web so that customers, potential employees, business partners and perhaps even investors can quickly and easily find out more about your business and the products or services you have to offer.”
Now that we know why having a website is so important, let’s get right to it… Think about what you want your website to tell a potential customer, what should everyone in the world know about your company, what makes it special and unique? Put all that info together and follow me!

What’s Valiik.com and What do I know?
// February 11th, 2011 // Rants
Not so easy to focus on something specific when you know and want to share so many things with the world. I’ve been trying to start this blog for a while now but deciding what topic to specialize in is almost impossible. Generally I would say my knowledge is in the Internet development area, this includes everything from HTML and website programming to design and marketing websites.
I will teach you everything I know about the Internet presence that every business should have. Knowing where to go to get help and how to do some things yourself quickly so not to have to wait till your developer or designer gets to it.
Whether you have a website already or if you are looking forward to getting one deployed, just follow my lead and you will find this dark forrest nothing but a field of ancle-high grass.
We will start with the Why’s and then get into the How’s, going through each step by step. I will have videos illustrating some parts that are not very straight forward and I am sure you’ll get through it without a hitch.
On Mondays we will have live broadcasts where you can come in and ask me questions and I hopefully I will have answers for you. Nothing to it, I will help you get this done.
Now make sure you are subscribed to the mailing list so you will get notified when I have the new material posted or when I am on the broadcast, on other days than Mondays, where you can ask me questions live.
Until next time,
~ Valiik
